Illustration for me has always been the clearest way to communicate what I am feeling. Most effective meditation/therapy. Illustration has also always been my favorite way to tell stories, I have not illustrated in years, just in bits and spurts here and there. I do have a degree from Parsons School of Design, though my major was not illustration, my major was Communication Design. Communication Illustration is where I feel the most comfortable these days.

My daughters first illustration of a smiling human figure (self=portrait) is tattooed on my right arm. The saddest I think I have ever been in life was after losing a sketchbook, I remember it was 1996 in the Spring. I love other arts and crafts too, but this has had the most staying power by far.

Posts below mostly are telling the stories of various pieces which are shown by picture within the post. Every story has a picture, either that or someone asked for it and I obliged. Most pictures go to a store with items that have the picture printed on it, so if you see one that means something to you, feel free to click away!

INK :: Dot Face

PAINT :: Mom & Baby As One

Kenzie was just a few months old when I drew this picture, which was a self portrait of us at the time. I very consciously left most of the canvas blank, and kept the colors muted because while it was … Continue reading

INK :: Driving Girl

I did this because the doctors explained it would bring my risk of stroke back down to that of a normal 20 year old, which was too appealing to turn down. Obviously I had no idea what that was going to be like…to be having heart surgery about a week after 9/11. Continue reading
