Don’t Want To Sell My Car

Like my mother before family has outgrown my car. She had a two seater, a little fiat I think it was at the time I was born. Now with three kids, it is hard to rationalize keeping this little car around. It is a 1992 190E Mercedes, with almost but not quite 110,000 miles on it. Right now it is off road, the head gasket blew and is allegedly fixed though it has to be flushed and filled to be sure…I haven’t had the extra money to finish this part of the fixing process.

So yeah, I guess I’ll be selling this car, this car I remember riding in when I went to visit my grandmother in California, driving later when I came to visit, and yeah. I have memories in the car. I’ll miss it, but I think it’s time to move on. My other car, the big ole Grand Marquis that I acquired in a similar manner from the other side of my family is a lot better for us at this point. It runs, fits both car seats and the booster seat, and yeah, it’s a pretty tough car.

I’m bummed but I am just about ready, I guess, to make that move.

Kelly Blue Book places the value at between 9 and 1400 dollars.

Did you sell the car? I found your post while searching for something to make me feel better about my dilemma. I still have the car my parents bought me when I turned 16. That was almost 16 years ago. It hasn’t been my primary car for 6 years and I haven’t driven it at all for 2. I still can’t stand the thought of parting with it. What is the deal? It’s just a car! Selling it would be better than letting it languish in the driveway, but my heart/memories trump my rational mind. Please tell me you sold the car and you feel really good about it!!!

Unfortunately not…the blue book value is so low that I am not pursuing it (lass than a grand since it needs a little work) so I plan to attempt to get it working once I have a couple hundred dollars extra cash and then either use or sell it once it’s running…

    Does yours work?

Mine does work. It has about 100,000 miles on it and is still in great shape. I would still drive it if it were more family friendly. It’s a two door sports car with a tiny backseat. Not the best situation for dragging a kid in and out! A guy we know offered $1500 for it while Blue Book & Edmunds show a value of more than $2000. Either number would be better than letting it fall apart in the drive I guess, but I’m having a hard time letting it go.

That is tough…do you know what you would get to replace it? Lol, maybe you can have mine! It was great for two kids… 😉

What a random spammy response!! Would you like to elaborate on the relevance to this post? Are you suggesting that I buy a VW or is this some kind of attempt at semi-human sounding spam?
