Oh my cupcakes…

I just came across this post from “Don’t Speak Whinese”

When Dairy Free Allergy Cupcakes Make You Cry.

and wow…talk about a reality check that I needed.

Kenzie and Geoff put a lot of effort into making cupcakes for me the other day, pretty much from scratch so they could, like her daughter make them without not just dairy, not just eggs, but gluten too.

What did I see when they did this? I saw the sugar the kids would be consuming that would turn them into sugar monsters…I saw that he was being impatient with the sugar monsters and saw it as an intentional “torture the kids” move to expose them to more than they could have…I saw the rest of the grains in the ‘gluten free’ mix that I’m not supposed to be eating (doesn’t he remember we are going PALEO now???) and last but not least…I was even irritated because the frosting wasn’t the kind of frosting that I like…and frosting is my favorite part of a cupcake.

The cupcakes were great, super chocolatey and well…yeah, I didn’t even take a picture of them, I was too busy being concerned about the stuff I listed above.

What a biatch right?

I’m so frustrated with myself right now…too busy worrying about money and my diet to appreciate this massive attempt at expressing their love for me.

I’m glad that I stumbled across this other blogger’s post about her cupcakes because it made me realize that I had cupcakes that needed some appreciation expressed for…even if a bit late.

Kenzie asked me a while ago to draw some pretty pictures for her, I haven’t done it yet.

I think it’s time for me to draw her a nice big brown cupcake with pink sprinkles on it.

  1. Wow look at her face!!! She is so happy! That is really awesome. It is hard to see past our own concerns and (for me) bad days to see the silver lining in these situations.

    I’m glad I helped inspire that 🙂
